If you suffer from a slow metabolism, you need to read this Metabolic Cooking Review. I just finished reading the first part of the book and I am pretty impressed with what I have seen. There are concepts in the book that are very interesting and it looks that the authors have their method down to a science.
Dave Ruel, the author of this Metabolic Cooking is a very well know fitness cook. He has helped thousands of people reach their weight loss goals for years. His wife Karine Losier, is know as “The Lean Kitchen Queen” and for a very good reason. Between the both of them they make the perfect couple to give advice to others struggling with their weight.
There are various concepts thrown around in this book, such as Metabolic Thermo-Charge, Metabolic Nutri-Profile and Metabolic Adaptation Phenomenon. These all refer to the effect that food has on your metabolism and what you can do to overhaul it.
The Metabolic Thermo-Charge of the food is the amount of energy that your body spends digesting that food compared to the amount of energy (calories) that such food provides you with. If the amount of calories spent are greater than the amount intaken, then you are on your way to losing weight.
The Metabolic Nutri-Profile is the term they give to the nutritional profile of their meals. For example if a meal has a P – F – C profile it will mean that it is composed of Proteins, Fats and Carbs (complex carbs) They explain this part with plenty of details and examples.
The Metabolic Adaptation Phenomenon is their way of explaining why we hit plateaus when we diet. According to this phenomenon, the human body is so smart that if you intake the same food at the same time in the same amounts your body will get extremely efficient at processing it. With efficient I mean that once it understands your pattern it will use a significantly less amount of energy.
I have not gotten to the recipes yet. I am a cook and I always love to see people getting ingenious when it comes to modifying a recipe to make it healthy. The problem is that most time the end resutls is, let say… less than palatable. But please make sure to check often as I will start testing their recipes and giving you the results.
I really hope that this Metabolic Cooking Review Site helps people find the right program that fits their needs. Keep in mind that we are all different and what works for one person may not work for others, but at the same time, know that there are basic principles on which all weight management programs rely. And so far, it seems that Metabolic Cooking Cookbook will be properly integrating each one of them.
