The 10 Rules Of Metabolic Cooking

In the Metabolic Cooking cookbook and plan, the authors Dave Ruel and Karine Losier base their who strategy on ten very solid rules. They actually ask you to adhere to these at all times so you can lose weight and avoid a slow metabolism.

One by one here they are:

1. Eat every 2 to 3 hours

If you have been trying to lose weight for a while this one shouldn’t be new to you. Even though it may seem contradictory eating more frequently than the 3 square meals per day allows your metabolism to be at a high constantly.

2. Eat a complete source of protein with every meal

Protein is metabolic thremo-charged. This means that by eating protein your body burns more calories than when you eat carbs or fats. Also protein has a satiety factor a lot higher than the other two macronutrients, therefore after eating some protein you will feel fuller than if you had eaten the same amount of food and calories coming from carbs or fats.

3. Eat a source of healthy fats with almost every meal

Contrary to common believe, fats are not our enemies. As a matter of fact they are essential to burning fat and revving our metabolism. Good fats, that is.
They recommend three oils, olive oil, macadamia nut oil and coconut oil for cooking and fish oil as supplement.

4. Choose good sources of carbohydrates

After the low carb craze, everybody seems to think that cutting carbs is the key to losing weight. Unfortunately it is not just that simple. The truth is that carbohydrates are a vital fuel for our bodies. Eaten at the right times, in the right portions and the right kinds (complex, low glycemic) carbohydrates will give your body sustained energy trough the day.

5. Eat veggies, lots of them, and don’t count their calories.

Most veggies metabolic thermo-charge is negative. Which means that for the most part, our body will burn more energy (calories) digesting and processing vegetables then the calories that they provide us with. In Metabolic Cooking the authors ask you to eat as many veggies as possible and the best part is that they will not count towards your daily caloric intake.

6. Eat whole foods whenever possible

This one is about fiber and the benefits of it. Also whole foods are more metabolic thermo-charged than their processed counterparts. Even though this diet plan does not ask you to spend hundreds of dollars in whole organic foods they do ask you to get whole foods as often as possible since they will help you burning more fat.

7. Vary your nutrient sources and ratios

I have done various other diet program reviews and this rule is essential. There is nothing worse than having to eat the same thing day after day. Variety is not only critical for you to be able to stay on a diet plan but it also prevents your body from becoming highly efficient (and therefore burn less calories) when processing such foods.

8. Cut the junk

This is probably one of the hardest things to do. Unfortunately in this society we feed our bodies with junk food. The super grande frufrucchino in the morning, the white bread, full of saturated fat burger at lunch, the chocolaty, caramely, nutty candy bar at 3:00 PM and the whatever we can find for dinner, plus the ice cream in front of our nightly TV shows…. If this doesn’t sound like you, you may not struggle with this rule as much, but for the rest of us, this rule is more about changing our habits and that is usually the hardest part of following a diet plan.

9. Always be prepared

There is nothing that will help you more to stay on track than being prepared. “Failing to plan is planning to fail!”. In Metabolic Cooking they recommend you to prepare your foods in advance and in big batches, that way you will have them ready when needed. This is definitely a rule you will need to abide by, otherwise you will go right back to your old habits.

10. Don’t make it more complicated than it really is

I had to laugh at this one because it was deja vu! Most people, including myself, plan for like a week in advance for their new diet (yeah, the one we are going to start on Monday). And then we make it so complicated that we don’t get passed the second day! Sounds familiar?

Don’t get overwhelmed with any of the rules or concepts or counting every single morsel that you put in your mouth. The whole idea with any weight loss program is to make a conscious effort to change, in Metabolic Cooking they have tried to make it very simple to follow by providing you with these rules.

From all the weight loss reviews that I have made, I can tell you that this one has very solid structural concepts. If you do follow the 10 rules you will likely succeed. These rule will help you fight a slow metabolism, increase your metabolic system, and therefore make you lose weight.
